Sources from Norman have informed the TFY Draft Preview that Oklahoma junior
defensive tackle Tommie Harris will enter this April's NFL Draft and forego his
senior campaign. The Lombardi Award winner is expected to start working
out for the combine immediately and more than likely won't be back at school
during the spring semester.
Harris, a third-year junior, moved into the starting line-up his first year
with the squad and has been awarded numerous honors since. He finished the
2003 season with 37 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and three sacks.
TFY Analysis: After Philip Rivers of North Carolina State, no prospect
leading up to April's draft will be more hotly debated as Harris. A force
on the college level, his lack of size and growth potential are of major concern
to several scouts we've spoke with. We would not project Harris as a top
ten choice rather in the middle of the initial frame.
