 |
1. |
Chargers
(1-0) |
A win against the Super Bowl runner-up with LaDainian Tomlinson
gaining only 25 yards is scary! Defense totally shut down the Bears. |
 |
2. |
Patriots
(1-0) |
Looked like they were in midseason form and they
made it look easy. The class of the AFC East will run away with the
division. |
 |
3. |
Colts
(1-0) |
Peyton's performance was expected, but shutting down the Saints
vaunted offense bodes well for the defending Super Bowl champions |
 |
4. |
Cowboys
(1-0) |
Defense disappointed, but QB Tony Romo and the rest of the offense
impressed in a division victory over the Giants. |
 |
5. |
Bears
(0-1) |
League's top defense can't do it alone. RB Cedric Benson
struggled as team's primary ball carrier -- and Rex was Rex |
 |
6. |
Saints
(0-1) |
Secondary was exposed versus Colts. Brees struggled
along with the rest of the offensive personnel. |
 |
7. |
Bengals
(1-0) |
Talented unit on both sides of the football. Hey, Chad
Johnson ... just keep your mouth shut and play the game! |
 |
8. |
Broncos
(1-0) |
Many people felt the Broncos were lucky to pull this one out, but
that's what good teams do with the game on the line. |
 |
9. |
Seahawks
(1-0) |
Put a lot of pressure on Bucs QB Jeff Garcia and
showed well on both sides of the ball. Impressive outing for comeback RB Shaun Alexander. |
 |
10. |
Panthers
(1-0) |
Winning on the road is never easy, but shutting down the high-powered
Rams offense is downright impressive. |
 |
11. |
Ravens
(0-1) |
Ravens hung in there versus the Bengals, but couldn't get
it done at nut-cutting time. Early rash of injuries could be a factor |
 |
12. |
Steelers
(1-0) |
Pittsburgh totally dominated a very poor, uninspired Browns squad -- but a win is a win. |
 |
13. |
Rams
(0-1) |
Offense just couldn't get untracked and defense still can't stop the
inside run (too many missed tackles). Injury to Orlando Pace could
be devastating. |
 |
14. |
Eagles
(0-1) |
Two-time Eagle returner J.R. Reed sent packing after critical late-game
muff. McNabb looked out of sync and will need to pick it up |
 |
15. |
Jaguars
(0-1) |
The Jaguars did little on the offensive side of the football. WR and
QB positions could pose a season-long problem |
 |
16. |
Lions
(1-0) |
One down and nine to go, Jon Kitna. Liked what I saw on both sides of the
ball. Old Lions would have folded their tent trailing late in the game. |
 |
17. |
Titans
(1-0) |
RB Chris Brown didn't get a sniff in free agency, but ran around and
through the usual stout Jaguars defense front. |
 |
18. |
Packers
(1-0) |
Packers will be hard-pressed to win many more if they don't uncover
some weapons on the offensive side of the football. |
 |
19. |
Vikings
(1-0) |
Young Vikings offense hopes to build on win over the
hapless Falcons. Impressive debut for rookie sensation RB Adrian
Peterson. |
 |
20. |
Texans
(1-0) |
Solid debut for QB Matt Schaub, but real test should come this week
versus the Panthers. Questionable RB depth might lead to problems. |
 |
21. |
49ers
(1-0) |
Winner in possibly the worst Monday night football game of all time.
Nice finish, but QB Alex Smith still has a great deal to prove. |
 |
22. |
Giants
(0-1) |
Defense looked lethargic & played uninspiring football. Injuries
to Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs spells big trouble for Big Blue. |
 |
23. |
Bills
(0-1) |
Push the ball down the field J.P. Losman! Rookie RB Marshawn Lynch was
impressive in pro debut. Best wishes go out to Kevin Everett. |
 |
24. |
Jets
(0-1) |
The CIA could have been signaling the defenses and it wouldn't have
made a difference. |
 |
25. |
Redskins
(1-0) |
Running game carried them to an uninspiring win over
Miami. If this is the new, improved Jason Campbell, it's going to
be a long season. |
 |
26. |
Dolphins
(0-1) |
One has to be able to run the ball and stop the run in order to win
consistently ... and the Dolphins could do neither. |
 |
27. |
Buccaneers
(0-1) |
Offensive front was manhandled by an aggressive Seahawk front. Could
be a very long year in the other city by the bay. |
 |
28. |
Cardinals
(0-1) |
See the new boss? Same as the old boss. The opening series of the
second half set football back 20 years. QB lacks mobility, quickness. |
 |
29. |
Falcons
(0-1) |
Vikings dominated a bad Falcons football team in the trenches. Running
the football could be a challenge for the 2007 season. |
 |
30. |
Chiefs
(0-1) |
This is not a good football team. QBs are incapable of getting the
ball down the field. Hey, is Lennie Dawson still living in the area? |
 |
31. |
Raiders
(0-1) |
Close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes. QB play was bright
spot, but wins will be hard to come by for this once-proud franchise |
 |
32. |
Browns
(0-1) |
Browns employ 3 outstanding WRs -- Paul Warfield, Jerry Butler, and Wes Chandler. Unfortunately, they no longer make their living on the field. |
