night's mauling by Giants defensive end Osi
Umenyiora, don't be surprised if Eagles QB Donovan
McNabb asks the league to put a cap on the
number of sacks allowed by a single player.
The Giants' dominating defensive end
dragged McNabb to the turf six times in a
16-3 win. Scout.com subscribers can read

Bring back Marty! Michael
Lombardo says that fans were chanting
deposed head coach Marty Schottenheimer's
name during the fourth quarter of San
Diego's loss to the Chiefs. And Lombardo
points the finger of blame for the team's
current 1-3 situation at the Chargers' general
manager, A.J. Smith. "Two years of bad
decisions have come back to haunt A.J.
Smith," he said. "He handed the QB keys to
Philip Rivers, who has proven incapable of
leading a championship offense; he fired
one of the winningest coaches in history
and replaced him with a man who couldn’t
teach a 10-year-old to tie his shoes; and
he failed to address a secondary devoid of
talent." Read more at our
Chargers site.
Payback in Cleveland: Aaron Wilson notes
that former Ravens running back Jamal Lewis
was certainly pleased to get revenge
against his former teammates as the Browns
defeated the Baltimore 27-13. "It was a
great feeling to come out on top and beat
up on my old team," Lewis said. "Phil
Savage knew what kind of back I was. The
Ravens felt I was kind of washed up and
didn't have that burst any more and here I
am. We're being successful running the
football and have a great offensive line.
I'm happy." Scout.com subscribers can

site that includes five reasons Baltimore
came up short.

They're baaaack: Many people had given up on
the Kansas City Chiefs, but they've now put
together a two-game winning streak after
beating the puzzling San Diego Chargers by
a score of 30-16 on Sunday. Nick Athan
noted that, "The Chargers’ secondary was
over-matched for most of the day, and
couldn’t cover both Tony Gonzalez and
Dwayne Bowe, who’s shown in a short period
of time that he’s a team leader and a
playmaker." Scout.com subscribers can read all about it, as well as who
Athan says deserves game balls for their
performances, at our Chiefs site.
Undefeated no more: Pittsburgh fell from
the undefeated ranks with a surprising
21-14 loss to the Cardinals. But Dale
Lolley says the Steelers were due for a
game like the one he witnessed on Sunday after some lopsided wins.
"That they were playing Arizona without
wide receiver Hines Ward did not help
matters. Losing safety Troy Polamalu and
nose tackle Casey Hampton at the end of the
first half only exasperated their
problems," he said, pointing out that the
three players have 10 Pro Bowl appearances
between them. Read more about the game at our
Steelers site.
As if this weren't bad enough...
The 49ers were struggling to score points
even with QB Alex Smith taking the snaps. But
during a 23-3 drubbing at the hands of
Seattle, Smith dislocated his shoulder. So
veteran Trent Dilfer will have to step in for a
while.

Those darn penalties! At our Vikings
site, Tim Yotter says that on top of losing
three consecutive games by one touchdown or
less, Minnesota has encountered at least
some controversy in each game over an
official's call that might have helped
swing the game the other direction. And on
Sunday in a loss to the Packers, there were
two controversial calls. Scout.com subscribers can
learn more about the situation in
Minnesota in this feature.
Hot topic: Brian Griese took over the QB
reigns in Chicago but it didn't appear to
make much difference as the Bears dropped
to 1-3 following a 37-27 division loss to
Detroit. John Crist was at the game and ran
