Quarterback
Aaron Brooks - It's amazing that despite all of the injuries at quarterback
this season, he hasn't had one tryout.
Jeff George - Despite being rebuffed by the Minnesota Vikings recently, he
still wants to play. You hear that Carolina Panthers? What do you have to lose
with another strong-armed, almost 40-something quarterback when your season is
spiraling out of control?
Jay Fiedler - He hasn't thrown a pass in a game since 2005 but if healthy he
would certainly be worth a shot.
Doug Johnson - Serviceable as a No. 2. Had a tryout for the Jacksonville
Jaguars recently.
Chris Weinke - Not sure how much he has left -- not that he had much to begin
with.
Rob Johnson - Was with the New York Giants in the 2006 offseason but he hasn't
thrown a pass in an NFL game since 2003.
Mike McMahon - More of an athlete than a quarterback at this point. Had a
tryout for the Miami Dolphins recently.
Shane Matthews - He last got in a game during the 2004 season and could be a
serviceable No. 3 man at this juncture.
Rohan Davey - Strong-armed passer but lacking touch.
Drew Henson - Played just one season in the NFL with 18 passes attempted. Had a
tryout with the Jacksonville Jaguars recently.
David Greene - Very productive collegiate signal whose talent hasn't projected
to the NFL level very well. Had tryouts with the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys,
and Tennessee Titans this season.
Bradlee Van Pelt - Has played in the West Coast offense and has value in a No.
3 role.
Drew Olson - Has developmental upside as shown in NFL Europa. Had tryouts for
the Carolina Panthers and San Francisco 49ers this season.
Koy Detmer - Has starting experience and can hold for kicks. Best used in No. 3
role.
Running Back
Corey Dillon - Just started working out recently and is leaning toward playing
again this season, but time is running out.
Kevan Barlow - He had tryouts for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay
Buccaneers recently. Could fill No. 2 role for a team.
Domanick Williams - The versatile back's future is clouded because of knee
problems and surprisingly he hasn't had a single workout for any team this
season.
Wali Lundy - Was the starting back to open the 2006 for the Houston Texans yet
is out of a job. Had tryouts for the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, and
Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Verron Haynes - Has value as a third back for a team and can also play fullback
if needed. Had tryouts with the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Seattle
Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Eric Shelton - The former underachieving second-round pick of the Carolina
Panthers offers size at the position and had tryouts for the Atlanta Falcons,
Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Dee Brown - He has value as a third back and has started some games in the past.
Duce Staley - His weight became an issue late in his career with the Pittsburgh
Steelers and it's not known if he still wants to play. But has extensive
starting experience.
Ciatrick Fason - The straight-line runner and former fifth-round pick of the
Minnesota Vikings offers some size and had tryouts with the Houston Texans,
Seattle Seahawks, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tony Hollings - Was once a promising back, but injuries and average performances
have kept him from signing on again. He still turns just 26 years old in early
December.
Lee Suggs - Injuries curtailed a once very promising career.
Shaud Williams - The diminutive but speedy back had tryouts for the St. Louis
Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Lionel Gates - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived him recently.
Josh Scobey - He can return kicks as well handle a No. 3 role for a team. He
had tryouts for the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks this season.
Cedric Cobbs - The talented but injury prone back could handle a No. 3 role for
a team. He hasn't had any tryouts for teams this season.
Stephen Davis - The veteran back could fill a short-yardage role for a team
that's interested.
Jamal Robertson - He can return kicks and could handle a No. 3 role.
Tony Fisher - The veteran back offers some size and versatility and had tryouts
for the Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Fullback
Cory Schlesinger - He was a surprising final cut of the Miami Dolphins
in September when the rosters were set. He can still be a lead blocker for a
team for the short-term.
Daimon Shelton - He's a solid blocker and could start if needed for a team that
required him for that role.
Zack Crockett - The veteran short-yardage blocking back blocked for Stanford
University head coach Jim Harbaugh back in 1995 when the two were with the
Indianapolis Colts. He was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Patrick Pass - He brings some versatility to the position and had tryouts with
the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Kyle Johnson - The former Denver Bronco had tryouts with the Detroit Lions,
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tennessee Titans this season.
Fred Beasley - He's coming toward the end of his career but has value as a
backup.
Troy Fleming - He had extensive starting experience earlier in his career with
the Tennessee Titans.
Shawn Bryson - He's had his share of injuries but brings some athleticism to
the position.
Josh Parry - The former collegiate linebacker had tryouts with the Chicago
Bears, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans this season.
Jerald Sowell - Decent blocker who can catch the ball a bit.
James Hodgins - Known as a solid blocker at this position who can still start.
Derrick Wimbush - The former Jacksonville Jaguars had a tryout for the
Tennessee Titans recently.
William Henderson - The 36-year old, 12-year veteran could fill a backup role
for a team.
Wide Receiver
Antonio Bryant - Played most recently with the San Francisco 49ers in 2006.
Corey Bradford - Journeyman receiver could fill a No. 3 or No. 4 role for a
team.
Az-Zahir Hakim - The oft-injured veteran could fill a slot role or return
punts.
Doug Gabriel - The once promising receiver offers size at the position and the
ability to stretch the field. Had tryouts with the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders.
Taylor Jacobs - The former oft-injured second-round pick of the Washington
Redskins could fill a No. 4 role or better for a team. Had tryouts with the
Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
David Boston - The troubled receiver still is only 29 years old.
Rod Gardner - The journeyman receiver offers some size at the position but has
been with four teams since 2004. Had a tryout with the Oakland Raiders this
season.
Todd Pinkston - Was once a promising receiver who could get down field well
before he suffered a torn Achilles back in training camp of the 2005 season
with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Billy McMullen - Has played in the West Coast offense previously and offers
value for depth due to his size.
Clarence Moore - Tall receiver who is a red zone option and could fill a No. 4
role for a team.
Courtney Roby - Was waived by the Cincinnati Bengals recently but could fill a
No. 4 role for a team. Had tryouts with the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs,
and Oakland Raiders this season.
Kevin Kasper - The journeyman receiver had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns
this season. He can return kicks and fill a No. 4 role.
Jeremy Bloom - The former second-day selection of the Philadelphia Eagles in
2006 has value as a punt or kick returner. He's had tryouts with the Carolina
Panthers, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this
season.
Bethel Johnson - The former second-round pick has bounced around over the last
few years but offers value as a kick returner. He had tryouts with the
Cincinnati Bengals, St. Louis Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.
Peter Warrick - Was once one of the better slot receivers but injuries have
curtailed a once promising career.
David Terrell - An underachieving former first-round pick who still offers a
team value as a No. 4 or No. 5 receiver.
Tyrone Calico - Knee problems have limited his once promising career.
Randy Hymes - Good sized receiver who has some upside as a No. 4 receiver.
Alex Bannister - Very solid special teams player and former Pro Bowl player in
that role.
Charlie Adams - Offers value as a No. 4 receiver.
Cortez Hankton - Solid special teams player but offers little else. Had a
tryout with the Houston Texans this season.
Rashaun Woods - The former first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers is
running out of chances to play.
Jerome Pathon - Veteran receiver who could fill a No. 4 role for a team but
hasn't played since the 2005 season.
Terrence Wilkins - Could return kicks or punts.
Tight End
Erron Kinney - A very solid blocking tight end but had microfracture surgery
late last season and hasn't played ever since.
Ernie Conwell - Oft-injured but productive player who could fill a No. 2 role
for a team. Had a tryout with the Detroit Lions this season.
Jermaine Wiggins - Journeyman who could fill a no. 2 role.
Courtney Anderson - Was most recently with the Detroit Lions. Was once seen as
an upside player with the Oakland Raiders.
Darnell Sanders - Strictly a No. 3 tight end.
Aaron Shea - Athletic and could fill a no. 3 role for a team.
Matt Kranchick - Has size and could fill a No. 3 role for a team.
Zach Hilton - Former undrafted free agent has bounced the last year or so but
brings some size to the position. Had tryouts with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami
Dolphins this season.
Shad Meier - Was once a promising player but hasn't been with a team since last
season.
Center
Chukky Okobi - Was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this
season but could be a solid backup at the position for a team.
Trey Teague - Was last with the New York Jets two years ago.
Cory Raymer - Was last with the Washington Redskins two years ago.
Guard
Jeno James - Had had knee problems but if healthy certainly could be a solid
backup or spot starter for a team.
Tutan Reyes - Has starting experience and could be insurance for a team. Had a
tryout with the Houston Texans this season.
Zach Piller - He has solid starting experience and could be a solid backup or
starter if needed for a team.
Toniu Fonoti - Weight is constantly is an issue with him but if he can control
it, he could be a productive starter for a team.
Chris Villarrial - Injuries have been an issue in his career but if signed, he
could least be insurance for a team.
Rex Tucker - He can play guard or tackle but would be best signed as a backup
at this point in his career.
Cosey Coleman - Has extensive starting experience and could be solid insurance
for a team. Had a tryout for the St. Louis Rams this season.
Marco Rivera - Back problems could prevent him from playing again. If healthy,
certainly could be solid insurance.
Kendyl Jacox - Has some starting experience but would be solid depth if signed.
Ross Verba - Probably at the end of the line but if he has anything left, could
be short-term backup insurance.
Bennie Anderson - Was last with the Miami Dolphins and has some starting
experience.
Offensive Tackle
Zach Wiegert - Has played both tackle spots and could be insurance for a team.
Adam Meadows - Veteran right tackle who played last year after being out of the
league for a few seasons.
Kenyatta Walker - Was with the Carolina Panthers earlier this year. Could
provide depth.
Seth Wand - Serviceable backup left tackle.
Leander Jordan - Can play right or left tackle in a backup role.
Todd Fordham - Has started some and could be insurance at right tackle.
Kicker
Mike Vanderjagt - A CFL team expressed interest in him recently. Had a tryout
with the New Orleans Saints this season.
Paul Edinger - Weak on kickoffs but was once one of the most promising young
kickers.
Billy Cundiff - Decent insurance for a team. Had tryouts with the New Orleans
Saints and New York Giants this season.
John Hall - Strong-legged kicker but not the most accurate.
Jason Medlock - Was a fifth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs this year. Had
tryouts with the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jose Cortez - Basically a kickoff specialist at this point of his career.
Matt Prater - Was with the Atlanta Falcons earlier this season.
Ola Kimrin -Strong leg but hasn't ever won a starting job coming out of
training camp.
Punter
Dirk Johnson- Filled in for injured Chicago Bears P Brad
Maynard earlier this season.
Josh Miller - Was recently released by the Tennessee Titans.
Mitch Berger - Was once one of the better punters in the NFL.
Toby Gowin - Hasn't been in the league for a few years but could be insurance
for a team.
Paul Ernster - He filled in for injured Cleveland Browns P Dave Zastudil
earlier this season.
Micah Knorr - Could a short-term fill-in if needed.
Ken Walter - Was with the New England Patriots last season and could be a
holder on kicks.
