MOBILE, Ala. --
Note: The following players have either met or will meet with the listed
teams this week or the listed teams showed interest in those players during Under Armour
Senior Bowl practices.
Offensive Players
Erik Ainge/QB/Tennessee - Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, St. Louis Rams
Analysis: Atlanta is still looking for their quarterback of the future, so
it makes a lot of sense that they're looking at Ainge. Miami may not be set with
QB John Beck as VP of football operations Bill Parcells is said to prefer big,
strong-armed passers. QB Matt Cassel is a free agent after the 2008 season so
Ainge could be targeted by the team. St. Louis could use a developmental QB who
could eventually push for the No. 2 job.
Colt Brennan/QB/Hawaii - Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings
Analysis: Kansas City has a spot open for a young, developmental
prospect. Atlanta has a glaring need at quarterback. Minnesota is interesting in
that they have a young signal caller as the starter but it doesn't seem like
they're totally set there either.
Tashard Choice/RB/Georgia Tech - Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Atlanta
Falcons, Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Rams
Analysis: With RB Julius Jones almost certain to leave via free agency,
it's not a surprise that Dallas has interest in Choice. Because of the injury
status of RB Ronnie Brown, we can understand Miami's potential interest in
Choice. Atlanta has a spot for one more back to get into their rotation. With
veteran RB DeShaun Foster on the final year of his deal in 2008, Carolina's
interest in Choice make sense. St. Louis still doesn't have a set backup for RB
Steven Jackson so it makes some sense that they're looking at Choice.
Matt Forte/RB/Tulane - Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers
Analysis: Atlanta needs some depth at the position. New England
is another team that could use some developmental depth at the running back
position.
Limas Sweed/WR/Texas - Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders
Analysis: Dallas certainly could use some young talent at the position.
Miami needs some depth at receiver. Seattle, on paper, looks to be deep at the
position. However, with starting WR Deion Branch (ACL surgery) out for several
months and WR D.J. Hackett slated to become an unrestricted free agent, you
could see where another receiver should be added to the mix.
Harry Douglas/WR/Louisville - Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans
Analysis: Miami could use some depth. New Orleans could use some depth at
receiver plus they could use a speedy return specialist. Houston could need a
return specialist if veteran WR Andre' Davis isn't re-signed.
Fred Davis/TE/USC - Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers,
Atlanta Falcons
Analysis: With TE L.J. Smith set to become an unrestricted free agent,
it's no surprise at all that the Eagles have interest in Davis. It's hard to see
where Chicago would have room for Davis considering they spent their first-round
pick on a tight end last season. San Francisco also spent their first-round pick
on a tight end last year and backup TE Delanie Walker flashed some talent so any
interest here is surprising. Atlanta could certainly use some depth at the
position.
Chris Williams/OT/Vanderbilt - Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars,
Chicago Bears, New Orleans, Atlanta Falcons
Analysis: He could play left or right tackle and Tampa Bay could
use a tackle with upside who could back up at either position. LT Khalif Barnes
is too inconsistent and Jacksonville could also use some depth for either side.
As for Chicago, RT Fred Miller is getting near the end of his career so it makes
sense for them to look for his potential replacement. Atlanta needs help at both
tackle spots, so they could use a developmental tackle such as Williams.
Defensive Players
Marcus Harrison/DT/Arkansas - Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers
Analysis: Tampa Bay really needs to find some youth for the interior of
their defensive line. If Miami keeps the 3-4 scheme intact with the new coaching
staff, they'll need more talent on the defensive line so their interest in
Harrison makes some sense. Harrison could move to end in a 3-4 so San Diego's
interest isn't surprising.
Titus Brown/OLB/Mississippi St. - St. Louis Rams, Carolina Panthers, Miami
Dolphins
Analysis: All three teams could use some depth with upside and Brown is
it.
Cliff Avril/OLB/Purdue - San Diego Chargers
Analysis: You can't ever have enough pass rushers, so San Diego's
potential interest makes sense — especially in a 3-4 scheme.
