Wide receiver D.J. Hackett will enter his fifth season as a professional playing with a new team.

Free Agent WR D.J. Hackett (Seattle Seahawks) has agreed to a two-year contact worth $3.5 million with the Carolina Panthers, Scout.com has confirmed.

The former fifth-round pick of Seattle in the 2004 NFL draft visited the Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Carolina last week.

"D.J. is very happy to join the Panther family. He was extremely impressed with the entire Panther organization on his visit. He is looking forward to making a home for his family in Carolina. He believes the Carolina Panthers will be very successful team," Hackett's agent Kevin Robinson of Ascent Sports Management told Scout.com on Monday.

In Hackett's 11 starts as a Seahawk over the past two seasons, he has 51 catches for 680 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Hackett will likely assume the No. 2 receiver role opposite WR Steve Smith with veteran WR Muhsin Muhammad handling the No. 3 role.

Carolina spent a second-round pick on WR Dwayne Jarrett in last year's draft but he had a disappointing rookie campaign.
